Musings, Tirades and some Deep Thoughts
I was going to call my blog "musings of a madman!"
But as I've matured (some would call this "debatable") I realized that I'm neither especially "Angry" OR "Crazy" even though I go through periods of both. I believe that we can all learn from each other if we're willing to be open with our thoughts, feelings, observations, successes, and yes, especially failures. But this also requires a forum through which these thoughts and ideas can be shared.
This is mine.
As you peruse this blog, you'll find that I discuss my life's discoveries through the lens of helping other make this or other discoveries about themselves. In most cases, the blog title will be either an original quote (or summary) or a quote from an attributed source. I do this because I think people who read quotes process them through the prism of their experience. If they have no personal reference on which to ground that process, then the message in the quote - no matter how valuable it may be - will simply be lost. In order to add some grounding, my posts explain either what I was thinking when I wrote the quote down or how I personally interpret another author's quote. I encourage you to give me feedback if you find my interpretation interesting - or not - and to share your thoughts and feelings about the post.
As I've shared these thoughts with business associates, friends and family members over the years, one of the most common responses is "You should put that on a <insert media here>". The media of choice could be t-shirt, mug, poster, desk placard or even billboard! You may find links to purchased licensed copies of the quote on all of these items (excluding the last) on the same page as the post. Supporting me through these purchases is appreciated, but the content will still be free. I think putting wisdom behind a paywall means you question both its value and the integrity of your patrons. If you find something valuable and think that a piece of memorabilia to immortalize it for you is valuable to you, then you'll choose to purchase.
